The Migrant Farm Worker Division of Colorado Legal Services is a not for profit corporation that provides education, advocacy and legal representation to farm workers throughout Colorado. The Migrant Division focuses on the following issues affecting farm workers: 

  • Wages: Failure to pay wages or provide paystubs

  • Contracts: Enforcement of recruitment promises and/or H2A regulations

  • Working Conditions: Pesticides, housing, field sanitation, and on the job injuries involving workers compensation

  • Civil Rights: Discrimination based upon race, national origin, citizenship and sex (including sexual harassment)

  • Immigration: Naturalization, visas for victims of crime, domestic violence and trafficking and other limited immigration cases

Updates:

- On December 13, 2012, Colorado Legal Services was part of a group of organizations that sent a complaint to the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Human Rights and Extreme Poverty, alleging that the United States is violating agricultural workers' human rights by not ensuring outreach workers' access to workers at employer-controlled housing.

- In January 2010, the Migrant Farm Worker Division released a report on the conditions of the state's agricultural herders, entitled "Overworked and Underpaid: H-2A herders in Colorado."
